Wins for Sam Van Rossom and Ismaël Bako in Euroleague this Friday.

Sam Van Rossom and Valencia had no difficulty against Red Star Belgrade (91-71). Valencia was already ahead after ten minutes (27-15). Red Star Belgrade, with Corey Walden, could not close the gap and it was an easy win for Valencia (91-71). The Belgian Lion recorded 6 points, 6 assists 4 rebounds and 1 steal.

Sam Van Rossom after the game: “For sure, 22 assists is a good statistic. It means that we played pretty well together. I think the ball was moving pretty well, and that was important against their defense. It is an important win for us, to get back to winning ways. We had three tough losses in the last three games so it was a very important game for us at home, and a big win for us.”

Nice win for ASVEL

ASVEL was playing against Greek powerhouse Olympiacos Piraeus. After a balanced first half (33-34), the French made the difference in the third quarter (9-17). At the controls, the French did not crack in the last quarter to clinch the victory (63-69). The Belgian center Ismaël Bako ended with 2 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assist.

TJ Parker was happy after the game: “We played real well together, we moved the ball, executed really well. It’s a great response after the Panathinaikos game. The only way we are going to win in the EuroLeague is with defense, and tonight we did a great job. We won, but I am sure they are going to come with some type of revenge [on Tuesday] and we have to be ready.”

Next Thursday, Valence will travel to France to face ASVEL for the 21st day.

In the standings, Valence is 9th with a record of 11 wins for 9 losses while ASVEL Villeurbanne is 17th with a record of 6 wins for 13 defeats.
