With the first window of EuroBasket 2021 pre-qualification games coming up this Friday and Monday our Belgian Lions have assembled in Mons this week to prepare for their match-ups against Lithuania and Denmark.

Unfortunately they will have to do it without Point Guard Manu Lecomte. Lecomte left his club Murcia to join the Lions’ pre-selection this week but suffered a ruptured tendon in his foot during practice which will keep him sidelined for up to 3 months.

It’s a pretty big set-back for our Lions as no less than 6 players will be missing from their roster due to several injuries. But it’s also a pretty big blow for Lecomte himself who in his 2nd season as a pro had just finalized an agreement with his club Murcia to be sent to Gran Canaria on loan. His injury and the several months of revalidation ahead of him obviously jeopardizes his chances of being a solid addition for Gran Canaria, so we can only hope and wish him a speedy recovery.

Before his injury Lecomte played 18 games for Murcia who currently have a 6-14 record for 14th place in the Spanish First Division. He started in 3 games for them and had total averages of 6.1 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 1.2 apg & 0.8 spg in 16.6 mpg. He scored in double-figures 4 times, including a season-high 14 pts in a loss at Burgos (Oct. 12). His best overall performance came a week later in a loss at Fuenlabrada (Oct. 20) when he recorded 13 pts, 3 rebs, 2 asts & 2 stls in 27 minutes of action.

2019-’20 Season Highs:
Record: 5-13
Full Stat-line: 6.1 ppg, 1.2 rpg, 1.2 apg, 0.8 spg & 0.1 bpg in 16.6 mpg
Points: 14 pts (@ Burgos, 12/10/2019)
Rebounds: 5 rebs (@ Zaragoza, 1/02/2020)
Assists: 3 asts (vs. Real Betis, 27/09/2019)
Stls: 3 stls (vs. Baskonia, 15/12/2019)
Blks: 1 blk (vs. Valencia, 10/11/2019)
