After their unexpected loss last weekend Basics Melsele was fired-up to set things straight this afternoon in their match-up against the youngsters from Limburg United B.

And the men from Dave Van Den Brande did exactly that. After an 0-3 start of the game Melsele quickly took control and never looked back thanks to a red-hot shooting Hockins and the strong interior presence of Anthonis. Despite the best efforts of youngster Mitchell for Limburg the visitors were unable to put up much of a fight and saw Melsele jump out from 40-33 at the half to 63-49 headed into the final quarter.

Mitchell and Dragan did what they could for Limburg in that final quarter but were ultimately outmatched by Melsele’s fire-power and saw the home-team run out to a maximum lead of 21 points before Mitchell settled the 91-72 final score with a jumper.

Geoffrey Hockins was the undisputed Player of the Game as he finished with 27 points, shooting 6 of 9 from behind the arc. Leroy Anthonis also had a strong game as he recorded 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Jens Bouckaert finished in double-digits scoring as well with 12 points, while Mitchel Gorremans had the nice all-rounded performance with his 9 points, 9 rebounds & 6 assists. With the win Melsele improves to a 1-1 record on the season.

18 year old Ajay Mitchell who will be going to the NCAA next season led Limburg United with his 26 points on 8-17 FG shooting. Nik Dragan added 12 points and 6 rebounds, while Matthias Bovy chipped in with 10 points off the bench. Limburg drops to a 0-1 record on the season.

In other TDM1 news, LDP Donza came away with the 78-101 victory on the road at Kontich Wolves and improved to a 2-0 record, while Kontich dropped to a 0-2 record. Unfortunately the stats of that game aren’t available yet. We’ll put them up as soon as we receive them.

The game between Spirou Basket B and Royal IV Brussels was postponed due to a player from Spirou testing positive for the coronavirus.
