The Belgian guard with Dominican roots has just finished a very impressive season at Glenville State (NCAA2). The youngster left Gistel-Oostende back in 2017 to move to The States and finish out his High School at Teays Valley Christian where he graduated this past season before joining Glenville State.

Despite it only being his first year Verplancken immediately earned his place in the starting line-up of the Pioneers and would start every single game to finish 2nd on the team in scoring (16.5 ppg) and first in passing (3.1 apg). Over the course of the season he recorded 3 Double-Doubles, including a 23 pts & 10 rebs performance in a win against Carlow (Nov. 17) and a 19 pts & 11 asts performance in the win @ Fairmont State (Dec. 15). Glenville State would meet Fairmont State on 2 more occasions and although Verplancken was excellent in both match-ups Fairmont St. would end up winning them both, including the MEC Quarter-Finals which ended Verplancken’s season.

With his excellent freshman season now in the books I wouldn’t be surprised to see Verplancken getting some attention from NCAA institutes hoping to add him to their program to finish out his collegiate career. With still 3 more years of eligibility ahead of him Verplancken has definitely made an impression and his future does look very bright indeed.
