Yesterday, Tenerife defeated Oostende (62-54) and the Spanish team will go to the Final 8 in Athens.

The Spanish team started strong the first quarter, and Dario Gjergja could almost only count on Thomas Welsh (6 points in the 1st quarter) to score points for Oostende (17-10 after 10′).

But in the second quarter Oostende reacted very well and took a 7 point lead thanks to Loic Schwartz and Olivier Troisfontaines (23-30 after 18′). Unfortunately Tenerife finished the half strongly (30-30 at halftime).

The start of the third quarter was a disaster for Oostende, they only scored 3 points in almost 7 minutes (43-33 after 27′), and the gap was 8 before the start of the last quarter (51-43 after 30′).

Once again, Dario Gjergja’s team started the quarter badly, with only 2 points in 4 minutes (59-45 after 34′). But the team showed strong character and they close the gap to 7 with 3 minutes to go (59-52 after 37′). Unfortunately it was not enough to disturb Tenerife (62-54).

Thomas Welsh scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, Loic Schwartz scored 12 points to go with 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
