In a full Coretec Dome Filou Oostende did what was expected of them against the underdog Leuven Bears and got the 67-58 victory for their 21st Belgian Cup Trophy in its history.

Oostende got off to a furious start, immediately pulling away to a 15-1 lead. Even though Leuven did manage to close the gab and even tied the game at 24-24 in the second quarter, it was clear that Oostende was in full control as they held on to a +/- 10 point lead throughout the second half. Armstrong kept Leuven’s hopes alive in the final quarter with strong drives and Leuven even came to within 6 points (60-54) before a Buysse three extinguished all hopes for the visitors. Gillet (17 pts) bombed away from behind the arc and completely shut down Noah Baumann who was held to only 2 points. Buysse (5 asts) and Ververs (8 asts) controlled the offensive flow for Oostende while Allen (18 pts) again proved to be hard to stop.

For Leuven it was only Noah Freidel who was able to really get it going offensively as he finished with 21 points. Armstrong and Rogiers occasionally managed to slip through the solid Oostende defense as both added 11 points in the loss.

Pierre-Antoine Gillet was named MVP with his excellent overall performance as he finished with 17 pts (5/6 from 3pt range) & 4 rebounds, while defensively he shut down the Leuven Bears’ shooters.

Congratulations Oostende!
