It’s been a rough ride so far for the talented forward who left KBGO Duva Fruit this past summer to continue his development at the University of Illinois (NCAA).

Although his play in practice quickly garnered praise from coaches and fans alike, a big set back wasn’t long in the waiting as Bosmans-Verdonk suffered a lower-leg injury which forced him to miss most of the off-season. And so – when the competition tipped off – Bosmans was still searching for his spot on the court and saw limited minutes. Partly to ease him back into playing shape after his injury, and partly to ease him into learning the plays and habits of his team and teammates. Patiently Bosmans took whatever playing time he was given and in a win vs. The Citadel (Nov. 20) he played a season-high 13 minutes to record 6 pts, 4 rebs, 1 ast & 2 blks. The following game (a win vs Hampton, Nov. 23) he again got 10 minutes of playing time and again delivered a nice all-rounded performance with 4 pts, 2 rebs, 4 asts & 2 stls, offering us another glance at the youngster’s true abilities.

Unfortunately his lower-leg injury reared its ugly head again and Bosmans’ season ended prematurely in December 2019 after playing only 9 games in total. In those 9 games he averaged 1.2 ppg, 1.1 rpg & 0.7 apg in 6.4 mpg.

We wish the youngster a full recovery and have no doubt that he will be able to come back from this and show the Fighting Illini that they truly acquired a very promising gem in him.

2019-’20 Season-highs (Illinois):
Record: 6-3
Full Stat-line: 1.2 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.7 apg, 0.3 spg & 0.2 bpg in 6.4 mpg
Points: 6 pts (vs. The Citadel, 20/11/2019)
Rebounds: 4 rebs (vs. The Citadel, 20/11/2019)
Assists: 4 asts (vs. Hampton, 23/11/2019)
Steals: 2 stls (vs. Hampton, 23/11/2019)
Blocks: 2 blks (vs. The Citadel, 20/11/2019)
