Cheered on by a sold-out gym in Kortrijk our Belgian Cats defeated the Czech Republic to qualify for EuroBasket 2019.

Despite a slow and nervous start our Cats were able to get back in the game in the 2nd quarter, led by star-player Emma Meesseman who scored and dished out assists like nobody’s business and at the half our Cats were leading it 33-21. The women from the Czech Republic didn’t hang their heads though and fought back in the second half. Although the win for the Cats never really came into question a 3pt shot at the final buzzer from Hejdova set the final score at 66-62, ensuring the first place in their group for the Czech Republic, just ahead of our Cats, who also qualified as one of the better 2nd placed teams.

Emma Meesseman again did just about everything for our Cats and finished with 19 pts, 8 rebs, 7 asts, 1 stl & 1 blk in 33 minutes. Kim Mestdagh had a tough time getting open but still managed to finish with 14 pts, 7 rebs & 3 asts. Julie Vanloo chipped in with 8 pts & 3 asts, while Kyara Linskens added 9 pts & 8 rebs.
