Player Profile: Ayoub Nouhi

In his second season at Texas-Arlington 1m98 tall Guard/Forward Nouhi remained in search of more playing time as he only played 12.0 mpg (just a tad better than his 11.9 mpg from last season) in which he averaged 1.9 ppg & 1.4 rpg.

Despite bringing an unmatched work-ethic to the table, Nouhi has continued to struggle in finding his spot on the court. Although his natural skills are (in my opinion) better suited for the Point Guard position, with his size and his versatility Nouhi has frequently been used as a Small Forward throughout his development. First at Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain where he spent the 2017-’18 season and now at Texas-Arlington. Obviously when looking at the Mavericks roster, it is quite understandable that Nouhi is mainly playing the 3-spot for them as their guard positions are pretty stacked with excellent players like Warren, Azore & Griffin.

With Warren graduating this year I’m hoping that some minutes at the Guard position might open up for Nouhi so that he will get more involved on the offensive end and start showing off his creating abilities. Both for himself and for his teammates. It’s something that we’ve seen him do continuously when he was still playing at the AWBB Academy in Belgium and when he represented Belgium at the U18 3×3 competitions (although admittedly 3×3 is a different type of game). In any case, we know he’s capable of bringing much more to the table than what he has been able/allowed to do so far and with 2 more years left at Texas-Arlington we hope that the youngster from Brussels will start getting the chance to show his full range.
